Up the River Road (#50) from Avery, about 20 miles to the bridge just beyond MM69. Cross the bridge and then up the 509 (Bluff Creek road) to the saddle (about 12 miles). Bear right at the saddle on the 324 road (well marked by sign pointing to lookout .. 7 miles). Within a mile is a fork which has no markings .. bear right. From then on the 324 road is fairly obvious..

.The original tower was built in 1923. That structure was replaced in 1951. The second tower structure was replaced in 1953. I assume something catastrophic, like fire, happened between 1951 and 1953. So the current Middle Sister lookout is 71 years old.
